Our cutting-edge factory
At Bømlo, we operate a brand‑new, modern processing factory where expertise, hygiene and gentle handling form the basis of everything we do. The facility is designed to maintain a consistently low temperature from intake to packing, ensuring stable, high quality in the raw material.
Automated solutions and robotic technology provide an efficient workflow, while our skilled professionals take care of the details that make the difference. Together, this ensures a safe, efficient and hygienic production process – from fresh fish to finished, packed products.

Live Cold Fish
Live Cold Fish is a technology we developed on Bømlo in 1992. The method makes use of the fact that salmon are cold‑blooded: when the water is cooled, the body follows. The gills act as natural heat exchangers, and the fish is gradually cooled before harvesting.
By working with nature rather than against it, we reduce stress, preserve the fish’s energy and ensure a low temperature throughout the process. This results in raw material with consistently high and stable quality.

Pre rigor fillets
Pre rigor-filetering betyr at me fileterer laksen med ein gong etter sløying – før dødsstivnad. Metoden vart utvikla hos oss eit par år etter oppfinninga av levandekjøling, og byggjer på rask, skånsam og hygienisk handtering frå første minutt.
Når fileten blir skoren før dødsstivnad, får han fastare tekstur, mindre gaping og ei djupare og jamnare farge enn ein tradisjonell post rigor-filet. Kombinert med levandekjøling gjev dette eit råstoff med svært stabil kvalitet, klart for pakking same dag som laksen symde i sjøen.

All our facilities meet the highest standards for hygiene, temperature control and traceability. We are certified according to recognised quality standards and follow strict routines for food safety and sustainability. Certifications

GlobalGAP
We follow the standards set out in GLOBALG.A.P.’s Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA) for aquaculture. These cover food safety, environmental protection, working conditions and animal welfare — from roe to fish.

BRC
We are certified according to the BRC standard, an international benchmark for food safety and quality. It sets strict requirements for hygiene, clean operations and documented safety – ensuring that our products maintain high quality and comply with all relevant regulations.

Ikejime
We are the first salmon harvesting facility in Norway to be Ikejime‑certified. The certification confirms that we bleed and stun the fish quickly and gently, and maintain a low and controlled temperature for optimal freshness.
